INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT ENGLISH

Let's have deep inhale for a while, be relax and comfort.  After having test from Directorate,it's better if we talk about having fun, but of course we are still learning English.....Don't you know that...

1.    The longest word in the English language, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, is pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis
2.    The word "set" has more definitions than any other word in the English language.
3.    "Underground" is the only word in the English language that begins and ends with the letters "und."
4.    The only 15 letter word that can be spelled without repeating a letter is uncopyrightable.
5.    No English words rhyme with orange, purple, silver, or month.
6.    There are around 175 languages in the world that are spoken by less than ten people, and almost 500 that are spoken by less than 100. One-fourth of the world's languages are spoken by less than 1,000 people.
7.    China has more English speakers than the United States.
8.    In nearly every language around the world, the word for "mother" begins with an m sound.
9.    English is the only language that capitalises "i", the first person singular.
10.    In English, the days of the week are named after the Saxon gods. Sunday is named after the sun, Monday after the moon, Tuesday after Tiw, Wednesday after Woden, Thursday after Thor, Friday after Freya, and Saturday after Saturn

In many test, finding the synonym include in  learning vocabularies.  Students always feel that it is difficult to choose the words which have similar meaning.  Doing a lot of practice will enrich their vocabularies.  Here some practice to improve the skill.
